5th Annual Joe Jackson Foundation Golf Charity Classic

5th Annual Joe Jackson Foundation Golf Charity Classic

The Joe Jackson Foundation held it’s 5th golf tournament September 28th, 2018 at Ocotillo Golf Resort and raised over $6,000. 40 golfers came out for a fun day of play for a good cause supporting individuals with spinal cord injuries continuing to be active. JJF was able to provide Jake Zunich, 26 and an upcoming wheelchair player who plays locally for the Ability360 Phoenix Heat, a check for a new rugby wheelchair. He was very grateful and appreciative for the chance to further his skills with the opportunity of getting a new chair. Thank you to all our sponsors and golfers!

Joe Jackson injured his spinal cord during a high school football practice. He worked aggressively on his rehabilitation and maintains a full and active lifestyle.  Joe decided to create the JJF Charity Golf Classic as a way to help raise funds for the programs provided by JJF.  The grants cover the following programs:

  • Driving is Freedom Program – provides funding for driving equipment and lessons,
  • Discovering Scuba Program – provides adaptive scuba diving assistance and access to scuba dive equipment and activities,
  • Adaptive sports and recreational equipment – provides items such as sport wheelchairs for basketball and tennis, hand bikes for cyclists, sleds for ice hockey and sit-skis for water and downhill skiing.

Joe states, “I’m excited for the tournament to be put on so the Joe Jackson Foundation can raise money and provide sports equipment enabling people living with spinal cord injuries to live an active lifestyle.”
